The Diputation proves that the team's trump card is the sector unio
The Institution supports in addition to the 17 companies exhibiting in Berlin, another 400 more.
The provincial Diputation of Almeria is expressing one more time its supporting for the companies of one of the main economic pillars of the province: the agriculture. The vicepresident of the institution, Javier Aureliano García,and Óscar Liria, representative of agriculture have moved to the Berlin-based fair that is gaining importance on the sector as an international showroom to show strengh, quality and food safety.
"We want to project an image of union, this is the most important thing to face the external attacks", said the vicepresident, "it's important to support the companies of Almería and fight for their rights, especially those in the ratification of the agreement of the assotiation between the EU and Marrakesh". Javier Aureliano remembers the hard times that he's been going through in the last year such as the E.coli issue, that brought charges against Almería that lately were proved to be false. Anyway, it meant a great loss for the farmers of Almería; the commercial margin between the original price and the prices dictaminated by the distribution, that directly affects the consumer, and the agreements than may exist with third countries. Regarding these third countries, the provincial representative says that is unacceptable, that rival countries introduce their products in the EU, and that they don't follow the same requirements as the local ones. In that sense, Javier Aureliano García is inclined towards the reprocity measures concerning the quality, safety and social rules.
The Vicepresident of the Diputation insists on joining the sectors, "if the sector is not united, it won't be able to make preassure and won't be able either to compete against third countries. If we work together, including the Administration, we'll be more effective".
Javier Aureliano applauds the Almería- based farmers since they have proved that they are able to fight and they have initiative; an example for that, is that they increased their production from 200 hectares and by working with biological control techniques, to almost 20000 hectares and using a more respectful method taking fruits and vegetables away from chemical products.
In Fruit Logística, the provincial institution collaborates with some companies of the community of Almería with two charter flights to Berlin. The Deputation says that a lot of firms are attending the fair, besides the exhibiting companies: 17 including the city council of El Ejido and the Bahía Almeriport establisment, almost 400 companies are coming to Berlin to hold negotiations , meet their customers and evaluate the new market's demands.
Among others, there are the cooperatives, the agrarian societies, seedbeds, investigation centers, the media, banks, the auxiliary industry, fourth and fifth range and transport companies.
The Deputacion is also working on the supporting of the agrarian companies by promoting their products in other exhibitions besides the supermarkets, international distribution chains and restaurants.
